Call for Nominations for the Ribenboim Prize in Number Theory
The Canadian Number Theory Association (CNTA) solicits nominations
for the Seventh Ribenboim Prize.
Description:
The Prize recognizes distinguished research in number theory by a
mathematician who is Canadian or has connections to Canadian
mathematics.
It is normally awarded every 2-4 years in conjunction with a
CNTA meeting. The prize winner will receive a certificate and medal and
will give a plenary talk at the associated CNTA meeting.
Normally the
prize winner will have received his or her Ph.D. within the last 12
years.
The last Ribenboim prizes were awarded to Andrew Granville (1999),
Henri Darmon (2002), Michael Bennett (2004), Vinayak Vatsal (2006),
Adrian Iovita (2008), and Valentin Blomer (2010).
The intention is to award the next prize at the
12th CNTA meeting to be held from June 17--22,
2012 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Nomination:
Nominators should submit the following to the committee by
March 1, 2012:
- a letter of nomination,
- a citation of not more than 250 words, stating why the nominee should receive the award,
- a curriculum vitae of at most 20 pages, including a list of publications,
- the names of 3 supporting references.
Electronic submission in pdf format is preferred.
