Ray Tracing Software Project |
My initial image included the Pengrowth Saddledome with the Calgary skyline in the background. I encountered many problems with trying to render the unique shape of the Saddledome using Swift3D (as shown below). |

After reading tutorials (Foundation Swift3D by K Honeycutt, Alex Hallajian, et. all) and trying numerous attempts to create the unique saddle shape, I was not pleased at all with final result of the rendering. I was unable to create a suitable convex shape unique to the Saddledome regardless of using the extrusion and lathe editors within Swift3D. By using a different 3D rendering software, I'm sure I would have had far more flexibility in creating and manipulating a shape to the saddle, but I had invested a fair amount of time with tutorials already on creating the buildings and continued on with using Swift3D. After viewing the atrocity of this image, it is easy to understand why I decided to render the Calgary downtown core instead. |
