My initial image included the Pengrowth Saddledome with the Calgary skyline in the background. I encountered many problems with trying to render the unique shape of the Saddledome using Swift3D (as shown below).

Pengrowth Saddledome

Weak rendering of the Pengrowth Saddledome

After reading tutorials (Foundation Swift3D by K Honeycutt, Alex Hallajian, et. all) and trying numerous attempts to create the unique saddle shape, I was not pleased at all with final result of the rendering. I was unable to create a suitable convex shape unique to the Saddledome regardless of using the extrusion and lathe editors within Swift3D.

By using a different 3D rendering software, I'm sure I would have had far more flexibility in creating and manipulating a shape to the saddle, but I had invested a fair amount of time with tutorials already on creating the buildings and continued on with using Swift3D.

After viewing the atrocity of this image, it is easy to understand why I decided to render the Calgary downtown core instead.
